Inspired by Persian miniature painting, the work draws on romanticised memories of the artist’s aunt’s courtyard home and the longing, the waiting, to return. The intention is to evoke anticipation—an eager excitement at the thought of opening the gated door after a long absence—those moments when the world seems to pause and stand completely still.
